“Gonna need floss and a 3rd grade nun”
I might have misheard that one…
“…punched a unicorn…”
There has to be a story in there somewhere…
There seem to have been several times in the past where steampunk could have taken off but there only seemed to be a blip in the mainstream. But I am wondering if maybe things are getting closer to a next big thing bump.
Or is there kind of a set of hard core followers and some casual fans that come and go and that is as far as things will go?
…I don’t know but I am hoping for a bit of blast into the mainstream.
I obviously haven’t gotten to doing anything particularly interesting with the site but I still am keeping it live.
My hope is that I will get to write something soon.
Maybe I could release something serially here on the page – about a 1000 words a post? Something I will definitely look to investigate further.
The worlds of steampunk still fascinate me as do fantasy and magic. Unfortunately I haven’t seen a lot of good stories that mix the genres – so if you have suggested reading, please drop something in the comments!
A world where fairy magic and Victorian steam technology coexist.
The industrial revolution helped to reduce the belief in fairies and woodland magic…but what if it hadn’t? What if out there somewhere is a fairy riding a steam powered zeppelin through a magical forest?
Would that zeppelin need to be armored to protect against random unicorn horn jabs?
How dangerous would squirrels be to a crew of such a machine? …now I suppose a hawk or eagle would be more dangerous but I get this picture in my head of a big fluffy flying squirrel dive bombing the zeppelin while the crew of fairies in their finest Victorian pirate gear defend the ship with sabres and rapiers. This could be epic swashbuckling stuff! If you forget for a second that a squirrel really isn’t that big, or epic.
There are interesting thoughts here that I want to explore…
I have a new idea for a story but I might not get to writing it for a while. When I was doing some digging though, I noticed that the domain wasn’t taken and knew I had to snatch it up.
So for now I had to put something up on the site until I could get around to trying to write the story.
